The affinity I have for the Royal HH borders on lunacy. Thankfully, I only have the one, but given the option I would take another in one of the other 5 colors out there...

Here are some examples I found on the web (with as much attribution as I could gather):

A green HH as presented on the blog Typewriter Hoarding.

Pink on meedily's flickr account.

I have not found the blue, the yellow, or the charcoal/grey. If you know of a picture, let me know. If you have such a colored HH I would be really interested in getting one. Send me a letter, and we'll talk.

N.B. As far as I can tell, it looks like the colors were painted with some sort of sheen finish. The brown HH which is ubiquitous is always in a wrinkle finish. There is so little about these machines out there.

  1. Could be time to get the paint can out again.

  2. I've got a wrinkly brown one. Can't say I'm in love with that treatment!

    1. It's certainly not an exciting color. That's mine too.

  3. Mine's brown with rust and mildew, so I stained the lid with black ink. I call it the "ink-stained wretch" among other things.

  4. I think there's a shiny grey one at Bill's shop right now. It came in the same batch as the crinkle grey KMG that I took to fix up. It skipped when I tried it out, but half the machines on the planet tend to skip when subjected to my typing style, and usually work fine for other people.

  5. I'm part of the cult now, though with the standard crinkle-poo model. Even under the crud I can tell it's a great machine.

  6. Ryan, great site here! I found it whilst looking for information about the Royal HH. Glad to meet a kindred spirit. As for me, I own a Royal HH, a behemoth of a machine, which types like nobody's business. Love it!
