A Move, The Horror, Whispers, and Back To Normal

  1. Terrible. Having in mind that metal-bodied typewriters are pretty rugged, extreme force must have been applied to make this poor Hermes 3000 look like a scrunched Pepsi can.

  2. I am a Producer at CBS News Sunday Morning and Correspondent Bill Geist and I are working on a segment on typewriters. We would like to talk to you about videotaping and doing interviews with you and your students using typewriters in your classroom. I'd love to know more about what you are doing and what is possible. ASAP.

  4. And to think I lament my minor shipping woes of bent paper bails, margin-releases, and carriage return levers. But that is a bone-chilling image.

And good luck with CBS; I hope that turns out to be a wonderful experience.

  5. Poor Hermes, how could this possibly happen? Wishing you all well for your projects in 2012!

  6. Yikes! It was a conspiracy on behalf of the US Postal Service! I hope the Hermes can recover from this experience.

Good Luck with CBS! That would be great if it all worked out.

A 3rd Phoenix Type-In would be great, Mr. Adney! Please let me know if I could be of service this time around. I would love to help in any way I can. Cheers!

  7. At least you insured it! My wife shipped a big package of scrapbook paper from Vegas, and the dang thing burst open on the way, liberating several surprisingly expensive sheets of paper. At least some postal worker likely has some pretty nice paper now...
