Today was the first day that a student wanted to use the copper-painted Hermes Ambassador. I fitted it out with a nice green ribbon from Baco and let a young lady in my first hour have a go at this freshly customized typewriter.
The response?
"I love this typewriter."
I couldn't agree more.
Wow - looks like a little friend for C3pio!
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see the Ambassador at work.
ReplyDeleteIt wears that color well! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThe Swiss giant!
ReplyDeleteGreen typing on a copper typewriter -- exotic and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see this machine getting the use it deserves - you've really worked the Magic Margin Magic on that one! (:
ReplyDeleteThe platen is trashed, but its still pretty quiet. I could only imagine how nice it would be to type on with a nice, fresh platen; as smooth as the sound of the alphorn echoing off the mountains.
DeleteI love that typewriter, too. It shouldn't work, but it knd of does.
ReplyDeleteAmazing re-paint on your Hermes Ambassador.
ReplyDeleteThis typewriter is a waste with Baco ribbons. You have a dual ribbon machine that took IBM 5/16 ribbons; not all Ambassadors have this rather expensive option and it would be a shame not to use it. IBM ribbon is still manufactured by an American company and can be bought at www.aroundtheoffice.com/mobile/D-FILM/products/2193/ It's available in blue, correctable black and indelible black.
